Hartville softball outscores four teams by 66-29 margin

Both McKenzi Stigall and Brielle Kline hit a home run in Hartville’s season opener against Licking.
The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team is off to a good start this spring as they won four games by a 66-29 margin.
They opened the year with a 16-4 thrashing of Licking as both Brielle Kline and McKenzi Stigall each hit solo home runs. Kline finished with two RBIs and three runs scored while Stigall had one RBI and scored twice. Maddie Brown had a huge day with three hits, five RBIs and one run scored while Saige Petty had three hits and four RBIs. Peyton Dudley tallied one RBI and scored three times; Sarah Palmer had two RBIs and scored one run; and Danica Flachsmann had one RBI and one run scored.
Petty tossed five innings on the mound and gave up three earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
They followed that win with a shootout, 16-14, victory over Mt. Vernon as the Lady Eagles scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Mt. Vernon scored four runs in their final at-bat before Petty forced a fly out to end the game. As her team had five errors, Petty allowed just six earned runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Dudley paced the team with five RBIs and one run scored; Gensen Culver and Palmer had three RBIs and scored one run; Kline had two RBIs and two runs scored; both Haddie Ward and Brown had one RBI and scored three times;while Flachsmann had one RBI and scored twice.
Hartville added a 12-3 win over Cabool as Stigall had four RBIs and scored one run. Palmer added two RBIs and one run scored while Ward, Dudley and Kline had one RBI and scored twice.
Petty tossed seven innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and three walks.
Hartville then scored an astounding 15 runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Stoutland on the road, 22-8. Palmer had four hits, five RBIs and three runs scored; Brown had three hits, four RBIs and scored three times; Dudley added three hits, two RBIs and four runs scored; Culver had two RBIs and one run scored; Petty had two RBIs; Stigall had one RBI and four runs scored; and Kline scored four times.

Their lone loss came against a really good Plato team as Plato had an RBI single in the final at-bat to get a walk-off winner, 8-7.
Palmer had a big day with two hits, three RBIs and one run scored while Kline, Dudley, Petty and Culver each had an RBI.
Petty tossed six innings and gave up five earned runs on 11 hits with one walk.
