Lady Lions ready for season

With just one returning starter from a 15-12 squad, the Mansfield Lady Lions’ basketball team will be looking to several underclassmen to make an impact during their 2025-2026 campaign.
Leading the way is senior starter Addie Jones, who makes an impact on both sides of the floor for Mansfield.
“She is a great lead by example type of leader, which is exactly what this group needs,” said Mansfield head coach Sam Appleby.
Senior Chloe Napier is returning and will be the team’s primary post player.
Other key contributors include sophomores Kayley Kingery, Cheyann Price, Rylee Dixon, Kia Medlin and Julian Amago along with freshmen Patience Parsons and Chloe Holyoak.
“With us having a lot of new faces, the main expectation is simply to get our younger/newer players up to speed for varsity basketball,” Coach Appleby said.
“That being said, we have solid athletes and talent; so the expectation is to compete in our conference and district.”
Offensively, the Lady Lions will play quick and look to score in transition.
Defensively, Mansfield’s athleticism and quickness will help in keeping other key players contained.
Notable key players lost to graduation include Cali Lemons, Ellly Williams, Haven Tripp and Gentry Alsup.
The Lady Lions open their season at home on Dec. 2 against Bakersfield at 6 p.m.
