Lions’ winning streak ends at nine on the diamond
The Mansfield Lions’ baseball team had some optimism heading into last week’s Summit Conference Tournament riding a nine game winning streak.
Unfortunately, they ran into Fordland in the opening round and fell, 6-1, ending their season with an 11-6 overall record.
The Eagles would reach the finals before falling to eventual champion Conway.
The Lions trailed just 3-1 before Fordland scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away.
Cole Whorton had the team’s lone RBI while Fisher Croney scored the lone run.
Brayden Stuart tossed four and a third innings, giving up two earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and three walks.
The Lions’ Aiden Garrison tossed one and two-thirds innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
