Mansfield freshman strikes out 15 in win over the Bears

The Mansfield Lions’ baseball team got off to a great start last week as they picked up big wins over Willow Springs and Thayer. Freshman pitcher Jaxon Clark struck out 15 Willow Springs hitters in an 8-1 win over the Bears. He tossed six and two-thirds innings and gave up just one earned run on five hits  and allocated only one walk. Fisher Croney recorded the final out.
Offensively, Bryston Kingery had three hits, one RBI and scored two times; both Brayden Stuart and Aiden Garrison had one RBI and scored twice; both Parker Moody and John Roberts had one RBI; while Easton Thompson and Croney scored one run.
Against Thayer, Garrison drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat the Bobcats, 4-3. Stuart tossed five and two-thirds innings and gave up two earned runs on 10 hits with seven strikeouts. Garrison got the win in relief. Moody, Stuart and Garrison each had one RBI.
