Mansfield Lady Lions’ softball crushes Liberty and Spokane
Coming off winning a Summit Conference title, the Mansfield Lady Lions’ softball team had some momentum heading into a busy week with five games.
Unfortunately, they won just a pair of those contest.
One win came on the road, it was a 17-4 crushing of Liberty (Mountain View).
Kayley Kingery had two RBIs and two runs scored; Cayley Young had two RBIs and three runs scored; while Haleigh Jones had one RBI and two runs scored.
Addie Jones tossed four and two-thirds innings and gave up three earned runs on one hit with nine strikeouts and nine walks.
Their other win came a day later with a home win over Spokane, 15-4.
Haleigh Jones had a big game with four RBIs and two runs scored; Rylee Dixon had four RBIs and one run scored; while both Addie Jones and Young had two RBIs and two runs scored.
Addie Jones tossed five innings on the mound and gave up one earned run in five innings with six strikeouts and three walks.
One of their three losses came against a solid Plato squad, 15-4.
Dixon had two RBIs; Mylee Sullivan had one RBI and one run scored; and Addie Jones had one RBI. Also, Patience Parsons scored twice.
Addie Jones gave up 15 earned runs in seven innings with 19 hits, seven strikeouts and five walks.
Mansfield also fell to a quality Houston program, 12-5.
A six-run second inning doomed the Lady Lions in the loss.
Addie Jones hit a two-run home run and also scored two runs. Both Haleigh Jones and Young had one RBI.
Addie Jones tossed six innings and gave up 11 earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and four walks.
Their third loss was a 10-0 one to Crane as the offense had just two hits.
Addie Jones tossed four and a third innings and gave up seven earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and five walks.
