Mansfield Lady Lions set to host district tourney

A Mansfield volleyball player goes up for a kill against Blue Eye in the Second Annual Mansfield Tournament held recently on the Lady Lions’ home court.

The Mansfield Lady Lions’ volleyball team entered this week’s Class 1, District 8 Tournament on their home court after ending a recent skid with a 3-1 win over Dora.
Against the Lady Falcons, Mansfield lost 25-20 in the first set before rallying to win the final three sets, 26-24, 25-13 and 25-18.
Before that win they finished fourth in the Second Annual Mansfield Tournament.
They cruised past Niangua, 2-0, after winning 25-8 and 25-6 in their first match-up.
The Lady Lions then split with Seymour, 25-19, before falling 25-22.
They also split with the Plato Lady Eagles, falling 25-19 before getting a 25-20 win.
Mansfield then lost to eventual tournament champion Fordland, 25-10 and 25-13.
The Lady Lions also fell to Blue Eye, 25-23 and 25-17.
In a pair of regular season match-ups, the Mansfield Lady Lions lost to Fordland again, this time in three sets, 25-15, 25-17 and 25-16.
They also fell to the Sparta Lady Trojans, 25-17, 25-10 and 25-20.
Mansfield is hosting the Class 1, District 8 Tournament this week as the No. 3 seed took on Niangua just after press time on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
With a win, they will take on Bradleyville at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 in the semifinals.
A district semifinals win gives them a district championship contest on Friday, Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m. against either No. 1 Chadwick, No. 4 Plato or No. 5 Greenwood on Mansfield’s home court.
