Mansfield Lions’ skid now hits five straight

The Mansfield Lions’ baseball team had started their season 3-0.
Unfortunately, after dropping all three of the games in a big school Willard Tournament, the Lions lost two games last week to extend their losing streak to five straight.
Their first loss came on the road against undefeated Ash Grove as the Pirates scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth before holding on for the win.
Easton Thompson and Fisher Croney each had one RBI while Cole Whorton and Brayden Stuart had one run scored.
On the mound, Stuart tossed six innings and gave up four earned runs on10 hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
Against area rival Ava, the Bears scored at least three runs in four different innings in a 15-4 victory after a 15-hit attack.
Croney had two RBIs to lead the Lions. Thompson had one RBI and scored one run; Parker Moody had one RBI while John Roberts, Whorton and Stuart each had one run scored.
On the mound, Aiden Garrison tossed two innings and gave up five earned runs on four hits with three walks. Croney tossed two and two-thirds innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and four walks. Jaxon Clark tossed tow and a third innings and gave up one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts.
Mansfield is now 3-5 overall one the season.
