Four Wright County CC teams compete in Willow Springs

All four Wright County cross country teams competed in the Steve Waggoner Invitational last Thursday in Willow Springs.

Mansfield
Mansfield’s boys program led the county squads as the Lions’ Nolyn Corder dominated the race in a field featuring 129 runners.
Corder crossed the finish line with a time of 16:23.93, beating a second place runner from Salem by more than one minute.
Four of his teammates then crossed the line for 30th-33rd place.
Michel Ivey (19:27.98), Riley Stidham (19:30.99), Zachary McCrite (19:33.08) and Aaron Veenstra (19:33.64), all finished together while Benjamin Williams came in 15 places later with a time of 20:16.69.
As a team, the Lions were second place overall with 103 points.
Meanwhile, the Lady Lions’ Faith Clark was fourth place overall in a 78-runner field with her time of 21:19.15.
Gentry Alsup was 23rd with a time of 24:15.17.

Mountain Grove
The Mountain Grove Panthers were led by Hunter Bartlett, who earned an 11th place finish with a time of 18:29.17.
Trace Hadley (20:01.13) was 44th.
Other runners included Max Guilliams (20:32.29), Triff DeVries (23:46.12) and Mark Shaner (26:10.44).
As a team, the Panthers were 10th in the standings with 249 points.
The Lady Panthers were paced by Keena Roth, who earned a 12th place time of 22:45.09.
Teammate Makynli Blackwell was also in the Top-30 with her 29th place time of 24:39.03
Megan Adams also competed (25:50.30).

Hartville
The Hartville Eagles earned 268 points to finish 12th in the team standings.
They were led by Alex Parsons, who came in 56th place with a time of 20:40.65.
Other runners included Broc Roden (20:49.55), Wyatt Francis (20:50.53), Caleb Dugger (22:16.08), Lane Hughes (22:24.35) and Gustin Dennis (23:23.98).
Ella Pederson was the lone Lady Eagles’ runner and she finished 33rd overall with a time of 24:53.04.
Hartville’s boys cross country program also competed in the Gainesville Bulldog Classic on Sep. 13.
The Eagles finished third in the team standings with 54 points as 38 total runners competed in the race.
Parsons led Hartville with a sixth place time of 21:03.73.
Three other runners also earned Top-15 finishes. Francis was 10th (22:15.69), Roden took 12th (22:24.28) and Hughes finished in 15th (22:55.59). Dugger was 17th with a time of 23:31.30 while Dennis was 23rd (24:26.61).
