Gardner breaks long jump record for Grove track in busy week

It was an extremely busy week filled with success for the Mountain Grove boys and girls track and field program.

West Plains
In the West Plains Open, Mountain Grove junior Kale Gardner broke a 56-year-old school record in the long jump event in just his third meet of the season.
His leap of 21’10.25 broke the previous record of 21’5.5” set by Dick Diehl in 1969, who finished fourth in state that season.
He was also third in the triple jump (12.4 meters) and fourth in the 200 (24.56).
Max Guilliams had a personal best time of 4:52.75 to win the 1,600 meters and he was second in the 800 (2:10.71). Meanwhile, Aydon Barbe was first in the 400 (53.71).
Peyton Metty led the Panthers in the discus with his personal best toss of 127’11” for second place while Clayton Maloney took second in the pole vault after clearing 11’.
Braxton Williams was seventh in the pole vault (2.45 meters).
The 4x200-meter relay team of Easton Doroscan, Aden Estep, Barbe and Gardner took second place with a time of 1:35.43.
Ethan Haacke was second in the 300-meter hurdles (46.05) while Caleb Carron was third (46.45) and Truman King was eighth (48.76).
Slade Rodgers was third (36.05 meters ) and Charles Lauderdale was sixth (34.42 meters) in the discus.
In the shot put, Lauderdale was third (13 meters), Petty was fourth (12.69 meters) and Brannon Short was seventh (11.96 meters).
Other finishes showed Estep took second in the 200 (23.46) and Doroscan was seventh in the 400 (58.93).
As for the Lady Panthers, Kylie Roth won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.73 seconds as her personal best time is No. 3 all-time. It passes Jozey MacPherson’s 48.50 seconds from 2022.
Kylie Roth also took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.77 seconds.
Cassidy Behrendsen was second in the 100 meters (13.50) and third in the 200 (27.95). She was also fifth in the long jump (4.45 meters).
Patricia French took seventh in the 100 (14.55) while Kylie Roth was fourth in the 200 (28.32).
Olivia Sons was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (19.22) and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (57.49).
Brixley Williams was seventh in the shot put (8.57 meters).

Ava
Guilliams led the Panthers by winning the 3,200 meters with a time of 3,200 in the Ava Bears Invitational. He was also third in the 1,600 (4:56.48) and Masen Byerly was eighth (5:32.66).
Carron was second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.77 seconds, third in the 300-meter hurdles (46.27) and seventh in the triple jump (10.94 meters).
King was third in the 110-meter hurdles (19.78)and fifth in the 200 (25.12).
The 4x100-meter relay team was third (48.02) and Hunter Fry was eighth in the triple jump (10.48 meters).
Behrendsen won the 100 meters with a personal best time of 13.32 seconds to pass Kendra Miller’s 13.38 from 2018 for 15th all-time in the school in the event.
She was also third in the long jump with a leap of 14’10.25”, passing Rebecca Feston’s 14’10” from 2009 for the 10th best all-time.
Behrendsen also teamed with Santana Schwertfeger, French and Sons to take first in the 4x100 (54.91).
Sons won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.27 seconds and won the 300-mter hurdles with a time of 52.67 seconds.
Jaida Top was fifth in the 200 (30.82) and fifth in the 400 (1:11).
Keena Roth was second in the 1,600 meters (6:03.71) and third in the 800 (2:46.71).
Nyelli Soto was fourth in the 800 (2:48.33) and fourth in the 1,600 (6:16.55).
Marli Melton was second in the shot put (8.09 meters) and fifth in the discus (20.71 meters).
Elleah Gibson took second in the discus (24.45 meters).
Schwertfeger was third in the triple jump (31’2.75”) and fifth in the long jump (4.46 meters).

Buffalo
Several athletes. Also competed in the Buffalo Invitational last week with several top performances.
Gardner won the long jump with a leap of 20’9.25” and was second in the high jump (6’3.5”).
Maloney won the pole vault after clearing 11’11.75”.
Estep was second in the 200 (23.22) and second in the triple jump (40/8.5”).
The 4x200-meter relay team of Estep, Maloney, Barbe and Gardner took fourth place with a time of 1:34.22. This passed a 2007 team’s time of 1:34.23.
Andrew Whitson took second in the discus wit ha toss of 150’6.5” and he was fourth in shot put with a toss of 46’1”. Malaki Williams was sixth in the event (13.3 meters).
Barbe has a personal best time of 53.13 seconds for fourth place in the 400 for the 14th best time, passing Kyle Baty’s 53.23 seconds from 1993.
Haacke was seventh in the 300-meter hurdles (46.30) and eighth in the 110-meter hurdles (19.02).
Kylie Roth led the Lady Panthers as she was second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.16 seconds. She was also eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.81).
Lexie Bibens was eighth in the shot put (8.49 meters) and eighth in the discus (26.87 meters).
