Mountain Grove baseball opens with 3-4 overall record

Mountain Grove’s baseball team has opened its season with a 3-4 overall record.
Their largest win came on March 26 when they traveled to Springfield and crushed Greenwood, 18-3.
Eli Golden opened the top of the fourth inning with an inside-the-park home run as part of a nine-run inning. Golden would finish with three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Kayne Meyer had three RBIs and one run scored; Seth Thompson had three RBIs and one run scored; Kason Rollins added two RBIs and one run scored; Trace Harker scored three times; while both Taylor Garner and Tyler Watson had one RBI and two runs scored.
Briar Parsons tossed three innings on the mound and gave up three earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and five walks. Brady Burnett tossed a scoreless inning and struck out two.
Two days later, the Panthers defeated Reeds Spring, 6-2.
Golden had two RBIs and one run scored; Sawyer Kidd had two RBIs and Watson had one RBI.
Garner tossed four innings and gave up one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Collin Wake tossed three scoreless innings and gave up two hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
Their third win came against Belton in the, 5-1, in the Harrison, Ark. Tournament. Meyer tossed two scoreless and hitless inning and had three strikeouts.
Golden tossed three innings and gave up one earned run and no hits with one strikeout and three walks.
Meyer had two RBIs and one run scored to lead the offense.
Also in that tournament, the Panthers gave up six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to fall to the host Goblins, 7-3.
Garner tossed three and two-thirds innings of no-run ball and allowed 10 hits with one strikeout and two walks.
Wake tossed two and a third innings and gave up one earned run on two hits with one strikeout and two walks.
Both Bryson Berkshire and Golden had an RBI while Parsons had two hits and scored twice in the loss.
The Panthers also fell to Providence from Rogers, Ark., 10-0, as the offense had just two hits.
Another shutout loss came on March 24 when the Panthers fell to St. James, 4-0, as the offense once again had just two hits.

This past weekend ended with a 13-3 loss to New Covenant Academy.
Rollins had one RBI and one run scored while both Kidd and Wake had one RBI.
Harker tossed two innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
Thompson had one and a third innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout. Meyer tossed two-thirds of a scoreless inning and gave up three hits, one strikeout and four walks .
Wyatt Sparks tossed a third of an inning and gave up one earned run on three hits.
