Mountain Grove track experiences success in West Plains

Mountain Grove track competed in a dual meet at West Plains High School on March 24 as a way to kickoff the spring season.
Senior Aden Estep was just off his school record of 22.22 seconds as he finished the 200 meters in 22.5 seconds.
He also won the triple jump with his first ever jump of 38’9”.
Junior Kale Gardner, who has never competed in high school track, won the long jump with a 21’1”, placing him fifth all time, passing his coach Jamison Cain with 20’11” in 2014.
Gardner was also second in the high jump (6’).
Senior Aydon Barbe opened his season by winning the 400 meters in a personal best time of 53.2 seconds.
Junior Ethan Haacke tossed a personal best to win the javelin (131’ 6”), which moves him to No. 2 all time passing Ty Gardner’s 127’8” thrown back in 2023. 
Sophomore Tex King won the 300-meters hurdles with a time of 47.5 seconds in his first attempt at the event.
Senior Andrew Whitson was second in both the shot put (44’1”) and discus (152’).
Sophomore Max Guilliams ran personal best times and placed third in both the 1,600 meters (5:03.0) and 800 meters (2:11.3).
The quartet of Easton Doroscan, King, Estep and Gardner finished second in the 4x100-meter relay with a nice 45.2 seconds in their season opener.
As for the Lady Panthers, senior hurdler Kylie Roth started the season with a big personal best in the 100-meter hurdles, running 16.4 seconds, which moves her to No. 3 all time. She passed Mia Marquis’ 16.67 seconds from 1994.
Roth also won the 300-meter hurdles with a solid time of 49.2 seconds, less than a second off her personal best of 48.54 seconds.
Another double winner for the Lady Panthers was freshman sprinter Cassidy Behrendsen, who won the 100 meters (13.3 seconds) and 200 meters (28 seconds).
Sophomore Lexie Bibens started her season with two second places, throwing personal bests in both the discus (93’8:) and javelin (71’8”).
Freshman hurdler Olivia Sons was another highlight placing second in the 300-meter hurdles (53.5 seconds) and third in the100-meter hurdles (17.5 seconds).
