Local Hartville pastor publishes his second book

Leafwood Publishers is excited to announce the release of Quiet Time: The Past, Present, and Potential Power of Personal Bible Study. This is the latest book by local pastor and author Mark Fugitt, who said it took him around two years to write.
Fugitt is a long-time Wright County resident. He grew up in Norwood and now lives in Hartville, where he has served four years as pastor of Little Creek Baptist Church. He is also the Campus Coordinator for the Mountain Grove branch of Missouri State University-West Plains and he has served as a pastor for a total of 21 years.
In the book, Fugitt wonders why nearly unlimited access to the Bible has not made people holier in general. He explores how past Christians thought and fought for the ability to not only spend time with scripture, but to learn how to get the most out of it. The book ends by considering how some of these key ideas of the past can positively impact present-day Christians who are looking for something more.

Fugitt is a historian of religion and holds a number of degrees including a PhD in Biblical Studies and Historical Theology. His work has been featured in Christianity Today, NPR and the LA Times. This is his second title. Lost Shepherd: What Believers Once Knew about Psalm 23 That the Modern World Has Forgotten came out in 2023.
