Norwood contractor receives multiple charges for stealing

A Norwood man is arrested in Douglas County and has received several criminal charges related to his work as a contractor. According to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Report, Robert Smith, 44, was arrested on Aug. 20 on a Douglas County Grand Jury Indictment for three criminal charges of stealing more than $25,000 and three more chargers for stealing of $750 or more.
His bond was set at $50,000 cash only.
The case was investigated by Douglas County Detective Nathan Long.
Smith was a contractor who collected over $800,000 and failed to purchase the supplies or build the structure as agreed upon. There are six different victims from Douglas County in this case. Sheriff Chris Degase would like to thank Troop G Relentless Pursuit Task force and the Mountain Grove Police Department for their assistance in apprehending Smith in Wright County.
