Ohio man receives kidnapping charge

A man from Ohio was arrested by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office after a reported kidnapping and domestic assault that reportedly took place on Friday, July 3.
In the probable cause statement, witnesses reported to Sheriff Deputy Kristi Akers that Daniel Mack, from Miamiville, Ohio, arrived at a property on Thornhill Dr. in Mountain Grove armed with a revolver.
Mack allegedly pointed the revolver at one victim while two others were ordered to walk around a camper. He reportedly pressed the revolver into to the back of one victim.
When that same victim turned and tried to grab Mack’s gun had, Mack broke free and struck the victim in the head multiple times with the revolver. After trying to reach for the gun again, it discharged.
In the probable cause statement, Mack told this same victim to kneel beside the vehicle, in which the victim at this time felt Mack was going to kill him and he feared for his life. The victim then had handcuffs removed and was ordered into the passenger seat of a vehicle. Mack drove it to the top of Thornhill Dr. before ordering the same victim to drive. Mack told this victim to get stop the vehicle before the victim was released in the Cabool area. A witness who resided at the original residence told deputies that Mack had been stalking victims for several weeks. This witness said an unknown individual was photographed on June 28 in Dawson and that information was shared with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. At the time, the individual was not identified. The witness identified it as being Daniel Mack. This same witness noted that the other two victims had fled into the woods during the earlier incident in fear Mack was going to kill them. Mack was later arrested in Butler County by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Troopers said Mack was in possession of a revolver and a pair of handcuffs at the time of his arrest.
Chief Deputy Akers did report that the victim who was in the vehicle with Mack had multiple injuries on his head consistent with his statement. A second victim later told deputies that Mack attempted to have one his acquaintances tape their legs together. During an interview with Chief Deputy Akers, Mack claimed the witness and three victims were participating in a conspiracy against him.
He did admit to walking in the woods near the Thornhill Dr. property around a week earlier to attempt to surprise the occupants. He also admitted to being the person depicted in the game cam photograph.
He also said he discharged the revolver to celebrate the 4th of July. He added that he was on the property to rescue dogs. He also claimed the witness and all three victims lived with him in West Virginia.
Mack’s list of charges included first degree assault, second degree kidnapping and armed criminal action.
