Pair of traffic stops lead to felony drug arrests in county
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office recently made two traffic stops that led to felony drug arrests.
Traffic stop in Manes
A felony drug arrest was made by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office at around 10:51 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1.
According to a report, Corporal Jimmy conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Highway H and Highway 95 in Manes.
During the stop, Corporal Campbell made contact with the vehicle’s occupants and identified the passenger as Dalton Dale, known from prior law enforcement interactions. Dale is currently under the supervision of the Missouri Department of Corrections through probation and/or parole.
Consent to search the vehicle was granted and a quantity of methamphetamine was discovered near Dale. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Wright County Jail.
Dale has been formally charged by the Wright County Prosecuting Attorney and is currently being held on a $5,000 cash-only bond with standard conditions. He has a prior felony conviction for possession of a controlled substance. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office commends Corporal Campbell for his diligence and proactive approach in this case. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Traffic stop in Norwood
A traffic stop on Highway C in Norwood on Friday, July 4 resulted in a felony drug arrest for the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a report, Deputy Dee Gustin, with the K9 unit, conducted the traffic stop. During the course of Deputy Gustin’s investigation, methamphetamine was located on the person of Jacob Kelley, the driver of the vehicle.
Kelley has been formally charged with felony possession of a controlled substance by the Wright County Prosecuting Attorney and is currently being held on a $5,000 cash-only bond with standard conditions.
Kelley has pending charges in Douglas County and is on parole with the DOC for manufacturing a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office commends Deputy Gustin for his diligence and proactive approach in this case.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
