Hartville baseball falls in Summit finals

The Hartville Eagles’ baseball team recently ended their fall season with a 14-4 overall record after falling to an 18-1 Gainesville team in the Summit Conference Tournament Championship game. The Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning while Hartville’s offense had only two hits in the loss.
Truett Coryell scored the lone run for Hartville.
On the mound, he tossed four innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and six walks.
Gavin Stigall tossed two scoreless innings and gave up one hit with one strikeout.
In the semifinals, the Eagles won their ninth game in a row as they picked up a 7-3 win over Norwood.
Brock Jones had one RBI and scored twice; Cole Sinning scored twice; Gus Sinning added one RBI and scored one run; Jacob Meglan, Brodyn Hulsey, Hunter Lowery and Jeremiah Claborn each had one RBI; while Stigall scored one run.
Gus Sinning tossed five and a third scoreless innings and gave up two hits with 13 strikeouts and five walks. Stigall tossed one and two-thirds scoreless and hitless innings.
Norwood’s offense was led by Gary Williams’ one RBI. Laken Coatney scored twice and Carson Vaughan scored one run.
Coatney tossed three and a third innings and gave up three earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and seven walks. Lopez tossed two and two-thirds scoreless innings and gave up one hit with four walks.
In the first round, the Eagles held on late for a 4-2 victory over Sparta.
Brock Jones had one RBI and scored one run; Meglan and Hulsey each had one RBI; Gus Sinning had two RBIs; and Stigall had one RBI.
On the mound, Lowery tossed six innings and gave up one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.  Stigall tossed a scoreless inning and gave up one hit and had two strikeouts.
