Hartville baseball gets two at Wood Bat event
The Hartville Eagles’ baseball team won two of their three games played in the 17th Annual Crane Fall Wood Bat Tournament last week. Their third place game with Crane was canceled due to weather.
Hartville opened the week with a walk-off, 5-4 win over Sparta after Jacob Meglan reached base on an error that scored Gus Sinning to win the game.
Gus Sinning had a solo home run in the win and finished with one RBI and scored three runs.
Maddox Jones had one RBI while both Truett Coryell and Brodyn Hulsey each scored one run.
Heston Lowery tossed six innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. Cole Sinning tossed a scoreless inning and had two strikeouts.
On Tuesday, the Eagles scored at least one run in each of the final four innings.
TJ Kline had two RBIs and one run scored; Cole Sinning and Coryell had one RBI and one run scored; Jones had one RBI; and Gus Sinning scored twice.
Cole Sinning tossed six and a third innings and gave up one earned run on two hits with seven strikeouts and three walks. Hulsey tossed two-thirds of a scoreless inning and gave up one hit.
Two days later, Conway scored four runs in the fifth inning and two more runs in their final at-bat to beat Hartville, 7-4.
Dallas Jordan, Gus Sinning, Cole Sinning and Coryell each scored one run.
Coryell tossed four and two-thirds scoreless innings and gave up three hits with nine strikeouts and five walks. Hulsey tossed two and a third scoreless innings and gave up one hit with two strikeouts and four walks.
