Hartville beats Mansfield at Purple Out event

A prayer circle is held at mid-court during the Hartville Lady Eagles’ basketball game with the Mansfield Lady Indians.
A special Purple Out For Support event was held when two rivals collided last Friday night as the Hartville Lady Eagles hosted Mansfield.
Many folks wore their purple in support of Scarlett Hall and Jayla Shaver and a prayer time was also held at mid-court.
It was a special night for those in attendance.
As for the game itself, the host Lady Eagles opened the game on a 22-4 run and never looked back in the 61-31 victory over the Lady Lions.
Kinley Cryer had 10 points in the opening frame and followed with seven of her team’s 13 points in the second quarter for a 35-13 halftime edge.
Mansfield’s Addie Jones scored 11 of her team’s 13 total points in the first half.
Kayley Kingery helped Mansfield with six points in the third. Meanwhile, Cryer’s pair of 3-pointers and eight points pushed the lead to 27 and the Lady Eagles cruised from there.
Cryer paced Hartville with 25 points; Maddie Brown made three, 3-pointers for 15; Sarah Palmer had 10; Gensen Culver added five; and Jacey Revey scored four points.
Jones led the Lady Lions with 18 points; Kingery had 11; and Patience Parsons had two points.
Before the win, the Lady Eagles traveled to Crane and fell to the Lady Pirates, 56-44.
Crane led 30-22 at halftime before doing just enough in the second half to get the victory.
Cryer had a team-high 16 points for the Lady Eagles. Brown scored 15 points; Culver scored 11; and Palmer had two.
