Hartville beats Mansfield, record at 9-1

It was a rivalry match-up last week when the Hartville Eagles’ baseball team hosted Mansfield.
Fortunately, Hartville moved their record to 7-0 at the time with an 8-4 win after a six-run third inning was too much for the Lions to overcome.
Jacob Meglan and Truett Coryell both had two-RBI base hits in the frame.
Meglan would finish the game with three RBIs and one run scored while Coryell had two RBIs and one run scored
TJ Kline, Brock Jones and Gus Sinning each added one RBI and one run scored. Maddox Jones did score two runs.
On the mound, Gus Sinning tossed five innings of no-hit, shutout ball and struck out six with two walks.
Cole Sinning tossed two innings and gave up no earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
Mansfield’s Fisher Croney scored his team’s lone run as the Lions’ offense had just three hits.
Brayden Stuart tossed three and a third innings and gave up two earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts. Jaxon Clark tossed two and two-thirds innings and gave up no earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and five walks.
Hartville also hosted their own tournament and finished third after defeating Van Buren, 9-6.
Maddox Jones had a big day with two RBIs and two runs scored; Heston Lowery added two RBIs; Brodyn Hulsey added one RBI and two runs scored; Meglan and Kline had one RBI and one run scored; Coryell had one RBI; and Cole Sinning scored twice.
Gus Sinning tossed three innings and gave up one earned run on two hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Lowery tossed four innings and gave up three earned runs on six hits with one strikeout and four walks.
They opened the tournament with a district championship rematch against Crocker and the Eagles scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning for a 6-5, come-from-behind win.
Gus Sinning did open the game with a solo home run in the first.
Hulsey had two RBIs; Kline had one RBI and one run scored; and Gus Sinning had one RBI and scored twice.
Coryell tossed five innings and gave up five earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Hulsey tossed two scoreless innings and gave up one hit with two strikeouts and one walk.
Last Thursday, the Eagles did drop their first game of the season to Gainesville after the Bulldogs scored three runs in their final at-bat for an 8-5 win.
Brock Jones had three hits, two RBIs and one run scored; Hulsey had a pair of RBIs; Maddox Jones had one RBI; and Cole Sinning scored twice.
Cole Sinning tossed six innings and gave up five earned runs on seven hits with two walks. Hulsey tossed one inning and gave up three earned runs on four hits with one strikeout.
Hartville is now 9-1 overall this spring season.
