Hartville Eagles’ skid now at three straight
After weather forced the cancellation of the final day of last week’s Family Pharmacy Panther Classic, the Hartville Eagles drew a pair of tough opponents they were hoping to defeat on the neutral court in Mountain Grove.
Unfortunately, the Eagles found themselves on the losing end of both contests and now have a three game losing streak after starting the season 17-1.
Link Academy made 13-of-18 shots from the field during the second and third quarters to beat Hartville, 46-37. Early in the contest, the Eagles made just 1-of-8, 3-point attempts, but led 7-6.
In the second quarter, Link made 5-of-7 shots from the field while Hartville made just 3-of-11.
Trailing 18-14, the Eagles could not overcome Link Academy’s hot shooting as they made 8-of-11 shots in the third to go up nine. Hartville was then 3-of-16 from the field in the fourth quarter as the Eagles fell by nine.
Hayden Johns led with 11 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block; Gus Sinning tallied 10 points, five rebounds and one assist; Truett Coryell made three, 3-pointers for nine points, one rebound and one steal; Boone Garrison had seven points, seven assists, two rebounds and two steals; and Jordan had four assists and one rebound.
One night later, the Eagles took on Thayer and fell late to the Bobcats, 56-49. O’Quinn made a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter, but Thayer cut a seven point lead to one at halftime. Thayer made 14-of-19 free throws in the fourth for the win.
Garrison scored 13; Gus Sinning had 16; O’Quinn 13; Coryell three points; and Johns two .
