Hartville Eagles fall late to Logan-Rogersville

The Hartville Eagles had a showdown last Friday night against Logan-Rogersville with a Wildcats team coming off a victory one week earlier against Wheeler, Ga., a Top-10 team in the nation in the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions.
Through three quarters, the Eagles gave the Wildcats all they could handle as they trailed by just three entering the fourth quarter.
Logan-Rogersville then ended the game on a 12-0 run to hold off Hartville, 56-41.
In that fourth quarter, it was just a five point contest with 2:41 remaining when the Wildcats began to pull away as the Eagles’ offense missed several shots and had a couple of late turnovers become fast break points for Logan-Rogersville.
Early in the game, the Eagles trailed by four in spite of 3-pointers from Hayden Johns and Truett Coryell.
Hartville would rally with the help of four 3-pointers in the second quarter as Coryell hit two of them and both Jordan O’Quinn and Boone Garrison made one.
Indiana University signee Chase Branham scored 11 of his 34 points in the third quarter to put his team up three entering the final frame of play, where his team pulled away late for the victory.
Gus Sinning finished with a team-high 14 points; Coryell made four, 3-pointers for 12 points; both Johns and Garrison had six; and O’Quinn scored three.
Earlier in the week, Hartville crushed Lighthouse Christian, 57-25.
The Chargers had 10 points or less in all four quarters of play.
O’Quinn led Hartville with 20 points; Gus Sinning had 16; Garrison added seven; Johns scored five; and both Cole Sinning and Brock Jones had three points.
Hartville’s record is now 17-2 overall on the season.
