Hartville Eagles win back-to-back Liberty titles

The Hartville Eagles’ basketball team win the first place trophy after winning the 51st Annual Liberty Invitational last Friday night.

The Hartville Eagles’ basketball team are back-to-back champions after winning the 51st Liberty Invitational championship on Friday night.
In the battle of the Eagles in the finals, Hartville defeated the host Liberty (Mountain View), 67-45.
Hartville made 15, 3-pointers in the win as four different players scored in double figures.
Jordan O’Quinn hit two of them to give Hartville a 13-8 first quarter edge.
Gus Sinning had nine points and Boone Garrison hit a pair of 3-pointers for eight points in a 22-point second quarter to lead 35-23 at the break.
In the third quarter, Garrison hit three, 3-pointers and his team made six of them from behind the perimeter in a 24-point frame.
Garrison was named to the All-Tournament team with 19 points; Mason Cogdill was also an All-Tournament team selection with 16; Gus Sinning had 14; O’Quinn had 12; while Truett Coryell added six points.
In the semifinals, Hartville cruised past Rush, 68-34.
The Eagles led 34-19 at halftime as Coryell hit four, 3-pointers for 12 points and Cogdill scored 11 points .
Cogdill finished the game with 25 points; Garrison had 14; Coryell scored 12; Gus Sinning had 10; O’Quinn added three; while Hayden Johns and Brock Jones scored two points.
In the first round, Hartville defeated Neelyville, 54-26.
Again, the Eagles were hot from behind the arc as they made five, 3-pointers.
Garrison finished with a team-high 13 points after making three, 3-pointers. Both Gus Sinning and Johns had 10 points; Jones had seven; both O’Quinn and Cogdill had six points; and Coryell scored three points.
