Hartville Lady Eagles win Family Pharmacy title

The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team with the championship plaque from the Norwood Family Pharmacy Tournament.

The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team is on quite a roll after winning six of their last seven games, culminating this past weekend with a Norwood Family Pharmacy Tournament championship.
In the tournament, Hartville outscored their three opponents by a 19-7 margin on their way to the title.
They opened up play with a 3-1 victory over host Norwood in a pitcher’s duel.
Ella Fairchild gave up no earned runs in seven innings, allowing five hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Norwood’s Maddie Campbell tossed six innings and gave up just one earned run on three hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
Hartville’s offense was led by Brielle Kline’s two hits, one RBI and two runs scored. Sarah Palmer had one RBI while Katia Todd scored one run.
The Lady Pirates’ Gentry Davault had one RBI while Autumn Gunter scored their lone run.
In their second game, the Lady Eagles scored six runs in their final at-bat to rally for a 7-5 win over Halfway. Fairchild had two RBIs; Claire Dickinson, Peyton Dudley and Todd each had one RBI and one run scored; while Beyah Widner and McKenzi Stigall each scored one run. Fairchild tossed five innings and gave up three earned runs on nine hits with six strikeouts.
Against Van Buren, Hartville had a pair of three-run innings to pick up a 9-1 victory.
Both Todd and Dickinson had two RBIs and two runs scored; Palmer had one RBI and two runs scored; Carlyn Cantrell scored twice; Fairchild, Dudley and Widner each had one RBI; while Kline scored one run.
Fairchild tossed five scoreless innings and gave up five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Hartville did pick up another win over Norwood on Sep. 19, 3-1.
All of the scoring came on Kline’s three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning.
Norwood’s Jayden Chambers hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning for her team’s lone run.
Fairchld tossed seven innings and gave up one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Campbell tossed six innings and gave up three earned runs and three hits with nine strikeouts and two walks for Norwood.
Back on Sep. 17, the Lady Eagles defeated Dixon, 11-2, as Kline had a big day with a solo home run, three hits, four RBIs and four runs scored; Palmer had two RBIs; Dickinson added one RBI and scored three times; Stigall had one RBI and scored twice; Dudley added one RBI; while Todd scored one run.
Fairchild tossed seven innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Hartville crushed Dadeville on Sep. 20, 11-1, behind a 13-hit attack.
Both Palmer and Kline had two RBIs and scored twice; both Widner and Fairchild had two RBIs; Stigall had one RBI and scored three times; Todd scored three times; Dickinson had one RBI and one run scored; and Dudley had one RBI.
Fairchild tossed a complete game shutout after going seven innings and giving up three hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
The loss in the stretch was a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Marshfield.
Maddie Brown and Dudley each had one RBI while Dickinson and Stigall each scored one run.
Fairchild tossed seven innings and gave up five earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts  and four walks.
