Hartville scores in double figures in early wins

The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team recently opened their season by winning three of their five games, all coming when they scored in double figures.
Against Waynesville back on Aug. 30, a five-run fourth inning helped the Lady Eagles to an 11-7 victory.
Sarah Palmer and M. Stigall each had two RBIs and two runs scored; Peyton Dudley had three RBIs; Maddie Brown had one RBI and two runs scored; while Claire Dickinson, Beyah Widner and Ella Fairchild each scored one run.
Brielle Kline scored twice.
Fairchild tossed four innings on the mound and gave up seven earned runs on eight hits with one stikout and four walks.
One day later, the Lady Eagles took on another larger school in Lebanon and picked up a 14-4 win behind a 13-hit attack and a 13-run top of the fourth inning against the Lady Yellowjackets.
Brown hit a home run with four RBIs; Dickinson had one RBI and scored twice; Kline and Palmer had one RBI; while Katia Todd, Stigall, Dudley and Stigall each had two runs scored.
Fairchild tossed four innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with two walks.
On Sep. 5, the Lady Eagles defeated Aurora, 12-2, after they scored all of their runs in the third and fourth innings.
Stigall hit a home run and finished with four RBIs and one run scored.
Todd had two RBIs and scored twice for the Lady Eagles; while Kliine and Palmer each had one RBI and scored twice.
Fairchild tossed five innings and gave up two earned runs on four strikeouts and five walks.
In their other contests, the Lady Eagles did fall 8-0 to the Willard Lady Tigers.
Fairchild tossed four and two-thirds innings and gave up one earned run on six hits with two walks. The team had five errors in the loss.
Hartville also had a tight 2-1 loss to the Summit Christian Academy Lady Eagles.
Brown scored Hartville’s lone run in the loss to Summit.
