Lady Eagles pick up win over Dora
The Hartville Lady Eagles’ basketball team continued their solid season last week by winning two of their three contests to move their record to 12-7 on the season.
Hartville hosted Dora last Thursday night and pulled away late for a 39-28 victory.
Kinley Cryer set the pace early by hitting a pair of 3-pointers and scoring eight of her team’s 14 points.
She added five of Hartville’s nine points in the second quarter to take a three-point lead into the break.
Dora’s offense would only scored eight total points in the second half.
Meanwhile, Hartville made all eight of their fourth quarter free throws to seal the 11-point victory.
Cryer scored a team-high 22 points; Maddie Brown added nine; Sarah Palmer had five; and Gensen Culver scored three points.
Two days earlier, the Lady Eagles traveled to Ava and left the Lady Bear’s home court with a 53-39 win.
Hartville outscotred Ava 31-17 in the first half with the help of Cryer’s two, 3-pointers and 12 total points.
In the third quarter, Culver and Cryer both scored six points to push the lead to 19.
Ava made a late run, but was unable to complete their rally in the 14-point loss.
