New CC coach in Hartville
The Hartville boys and girls cross country program have a new coach as they start the fall 2024 season.
Head Coach Jason McDermitt is an avid runner and brings to the program a wealth of personal experience that includes running more 5K races himself than he can possibly count.
During his time in the military, he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science and was a graduate of Army Master Fitness.
“I have coached wellness camps in the past, and as a Unit Master Fitness Trainer, I have programed for and coached hundreds of Army Soldiers to pass the Army Physical Fitness Test and the Army Combat Fitness Test,” Coach McDermitt noted.
This year’s Lady Eagles’ roster features senior Lucie Taylor, sophomore Abigail Storrie and freshman Ella Pedersen.
The Eagles will have enough runners to earn team points.
This group is led by seniors Alexander Parsons, Jacob Show and Lane Hughes.
Other runners include sophomores Caleb Dugger, Wyatt Francis and Gustin Dennis along with freshmen Broc Roden and Jarren Simmons.
“I expect them to work hard and continue to improve,” Coach McDermitt said. “…This group of ladies and gentlemen have an amazing work ethic and dedication to self-improvement.”
Their first race will be at Willow Springs on Thursday, Sep. 12. They also run one day later in Gainesville on Friday, Sep. 13.
