Mansfield Lions, Norwood Lady Pirates win Summit titles
A lot of hardware was brought home by three Wright County school districts when their cross country programs competed in the Summit Conference race held Oct. 28 in Conway.
Mansfield
All six of the Lions’ runners finished in the Top-10 to help the Mansfield boys win the Summit Conference team title and earned All-Conference honors.
The Lions’ 23 team points were 26 better than second place Fordland.
In the field of 46 total runners, Nolyn Corder won the individual Summit Conference championship with his first place time of 17:51.08.
Michael Ivey was second (19:23.72), Braxton Bolfing placed fifth (19:58.55), Zachary McCrite was seventh (20:13.67), Aaron Veenstra finished ninth (20:20.61) and Benjamin Williams placed 10th (20:24.62).
Faith Clark led the Lady Lions by winning the individual Summit Conference championship with her first place time of 21:06.92. She beat the second place runner from Gainesville by 15 seconds.
Also earning All-Conference honors were Gentry Alsup, who was ninth place overall with a time of 24:40.0, and Cali Lemons, who was 12th (27:44.16). Addie Jones finished 19th (31:50.33).
Norwood
With two top five finishes, the Norwood Lady Pirates won the Summit Conference team championship with 18 total team points. They held off host Conway by 19 points.
Jayden Chambers led Norwood with her third place time of 23:54.56. Right behind her was Kalie Chadwell, who also earned All-Conference honors, with her fourth place time of 24:07.21.
Aaliyah Irby was 13th (28:07.10), Sadie Kelly finished 14th (28:08.76) and Sydney Irwin came in 18th (30:38.25).
Gunner Bradshaw earned All-Conference honors with his eighth place time of 20:16.84.
The Norwood Pirates’ Brady Vaughan (24:31.67) and Kyle Barker (28:10.93) also competed in the Summit Conference race.
Hartville
Leading Hartville with the Eagles’ best finish was Alex Parsons, who came in 16th place with a time of 21:34.43. Other runners included Wyatt Francis (22:28.99), Caleb Dugger (22:52.12) and Gustin Dennis (24:50.60).
