Five Mansfield CC runners advance to state

Mansfield’s Faith Clark crosses the finish line as she wins the Class 1, District 2 championship.
Five total Mansfield runners earned a spot in the upcoming Class 1 State Championship race after having solid performances in last weekend’s Class 1, District 2 race held at Plato.
Leading the way for the Lady Lions was Faith Clark, who won the individual district title by more than one second with her time of 20:37.80.
Joining her at state will be teammate Gentry Alsup, who placed 13th in a field of more than 75 runners with her time of 23:19.72.
As for the Lions, they entered the race in a loaded field with the top five boys teams in Class 1.
Unfortunately, they just missed qualifying the full team for state with a fifth place 108, just eight spots behind Hermitage.
Nolyn Corder was just back of the under 17 minute pace for two McAuley Catholic runners as he placed third with a time of 17:02.57.
His time was 15 seconds better than a third place runner from the School of the Ozarks.
Michael Ivey also qualified for state with his 20th place time of 18:52.07. Braxton Bolfing was 22nd overall with his 18:56.99 to also qualify for state.
