Lady Lions crush Seymour, fall to Norwood

The Mansfield Lady Lions’ softball team split a pair of Summit Conference contests last week, with their big win coming against Seymour, 17-7. Mansfield scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away for the win.
Mylee Sullivan and Cayley Young had big games with two RBIs and three runs scored; Jadalyn Coble had three hits, two RBIs and scored twice; Madisyn Bennett had three RBIs and one run scored; Haleigh Jones had one RBI and one run scored; Addie Jones scored twice; and Patience Parsons drew four walks and scored three runs.
On the mound for Mansfield, senior Addie Jones tossed six innings and gave up no earned runs with six hits, eight strikeouts and five walks.
In their other contest, the Lady Lions fell to rival Norwood, 10-1, as the Lady Pirates scored five runs in their final at-bat to pull away for the win.
Coble had Mansfield’s lone RBI while Parsons scored the lone run.
Addie Jones gave up seven earned runs on eight hits with 12 strikeouts and seven walks.
Maddie Campbell was dominant on the mound for the Lady Pirates as she struck out 18 in seven innings and gave up one earned run on three hits with one walk.
Gentry Davault had three hits, three RBIs and one run scored for Norwood. Jaycee Hall had one RBI and scored three times; Addy Gray had one RBI and scored twice; while Reagan Bennett and Jamison Williams had one RBI and one run scored.
