Lady Lions take fourth in Gainesville

The Mansfield Lady Lions’ basketball team was unable to bring any hardware home from the recent Gainesville Lady Bulldog Tournament. Their one win gave them a third place game match-up before they fell to Plato, 39-31.
In the contest with the Lady Eagles, the Lady Lions trailed 22-14 in the first half before being unable to rally in the second half as they scored just six points in the fourth quarter.
Addie Jones scored 12 points; Chloe Napier had eight; Patience Parsons added five; and both Kayley Kingery and CheyAnn Price scored three points.
Their lone win of the tournament came in their second game as Mansfield’s defense held Hollister JV to six points or less in all four quarters of a 21-14 victory.
Jones scored nine points; Kingery had eight; and both Napier and Parsons had two points.
In the opening round, Mansfield fell to the host Lady Bulldogs, 57-22.
Jones scored eight points; Price added six; Napier had five; and Parsons scored three points.
Before the tournament, the Lady Lions traveled to nearby Ava and fell in the rivalry match-up, 50-35.
The Lady Lions trailed 29-14 at halftime and were unable to get back into the contest.
Kingery had 11 points; Jones had eight; Napier added seven; Price scored five; and Chloe Holyoak had four points.
