Lions split pair of Summit Conference contests
The Mansfield Lions’ baseball team split their pair of Summit Conference games last week, with their win coming at Sparta, 3-2, in nine innings. Jaxon Clark hit the go-ahead RBI single to score Bryston Kingery in the top of the ninth. Clark then struck out two Trojans in Sparta’s last at-bat to seal the win.
Aiden Garrison had two RBIs. Garrison also tossed seven innings and gave up two earned runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts and three walks. Clark tossed two scoreless, no-hit innings and struck out four with two walks.
One day earlier, the Lions ran into Gainesville and lost 5-0. Brayden Stuart gave up no earned runs against the state-ranked Bulldogs and allowed five hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
