Mansfield baseball beats Fordland and Grove

The Mansfield Lions’ baseball team has moved their record to 11-8 overall after picking up two big wins last week.
Against Summit Conference foe Fordland that now has 19 wins, Jaxon Clark drew a bases loaded walk to score Bryston Kingery for the game-winning run for a 6-5 win over the Eagles. John Roberts’ hit-by-pitch scored the game-tying run one batter earlier.
Roberts finished with three RBIs and one run scored; Kingery had one RBI and scored twice; and both Parker Moody and Clark had one RBI.
Brayden Stuart tossed six innings and gave up two earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Cole Whorton tossed a shutout, no-hit inning with one walk.
One day earlier, the Lions hosted Mountain Grove and picked up an 8-4 win over the Panthers.
The Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to help pull away for the win.
Moody paced the Lions with four hits, two RBIs and two runs scored; Whorton had two RBIs and one run scored; Roberts had two RBIs; and Fisher Croney had one RBI.
Clark tossed five innings and gave up four earned runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks. Whorton tossed two scoreless, no-hit innings and had two strikeouts and one walk.
Trace Harker opened the game in the second inning with a grand slam and had one run scored. Kayne Meyer, Damien LaFranchise and Briar Parsons each scored one run.
Parsons tossed two and two-thirds innings and gave up four earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Collin Wake tossed two and a third innings and gave up four earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Skip Thompson tossed a scoreless inning and gave up one hit with three strikeouts.
