Mansfield baseball wins Seymour Wood Bat championship

The Mansfield Lions’ baseball team after winning the 2025 Seymour Wood Bat Tournament title. The win also gave Mansfield head coach Joe Garrison his 500th coaching victory.

The Mansfield Lions’ baseball team has extended its winning streak to six after they swept their way to a Seymour Wood Bat Tournament championship last week.
The 4-3 win over Galena also gave head coach Joe Garrison his 500th career victory, making the championship win extra special for the program.
Mansfield scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. A double play in the seventh inning helped seal the win in the championship game.
Parker Moody had a big day with three RBIs; Fisher Croney had one RBI; Aiden Garrison scored three times; and Easton Thompson scored one run.
Garrison tossed five innings on the mound and gave up one earned run on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
Croney tossed two innings for the Lions and gave up two earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
The Lions also picked up a 16-1 win over Dora as they took advantage of six Falcons’ errors.
Croney had three RBIs and three runs scored; John Roberts added three RBIs and one run scored; Moody had two RBIs; Brayden Stuart had one RBI and scored three times; both Thompson and Garrison scored twice; and Owen Schofield had one RBI for Mansfield. Cole Whorton tossed four innings and gave up one earned run on two hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Another win last week was a 3-0 shutout of Lighthouse Christian. Moody and Whorton each had one RBI in the win while Garrison, Croney and Thompson each scored one run.
Stuart tossed seven innings of shutout ball and gave up three hits with five strikeouts.
On Monday, the Lions knocked off Plato, 9-2, as they scored seven runs between the fifth and sixth innings.
Garrison had three RBIs and two runs scored; Kingery added two RBIs and two runs scored; Moody had two RBIs; Croney had one RBI; while both Stuart and Thompson scored two runs.
Whorton tossed four scoreless innings and gave up one hit with six strikeouts and two walks.
Stuart tossed two scoreless innings and gave up one hit and one walk.
Clark tossed one inning and allowed one earned run with three strikeouts and three walks.
The Mansfield Lions’ record is now 8-5 on the season.
