Mansfield drops pair of matches
The Mansfield Lady Lions’ volleyball team opened their fall 2024 season with a nail biter against Summit Conference foe Gainesville on their home court.
They jumped out to a solid 25-16 win in the first set before falling late in the second set, 26-24. The Lady Lions recovered and held off the Lady Bulldogs in the third set, 25-22, before falling in the fourth set, 25-19.
Gainesville would go on to win the final set, 15-10.
Laikyn Ball paced the Lady Lions with 12 kills and seven aces while Haven Tripp added 17 assists and 10 digs.
Kayley Kingery had a team-high 11 digs.
Mansfield then followed the tough loss with a challenging 3-0 loss at the hands of Willow Springs.
The Lady Bears won, 25-11, 25-13 and 25-13.
Cali Lemons and Elly Williams each finished the match with three kills.Kingery paced the team with five digs while Lemons also had two blocks. Tripp finished with three assists.
