Mansfield Lady Lions’ volleyball season ends in district semifinals

The Mansfield Lady Lions’ volleyball season came to an end on their home court last week, but not after nearly earning a trip to the Class 1, District 8 championship game.
In the semiinals against No. 2 seeded Bradleyville, the Lady Lions lost a heartbreaker in five sets, 3-2.
After falling in the first set, 25-22, Mansfield used the support of their home crowd to crush the Lady Eagles in the second set, 25-12.
Bradleyville rallied to win the third set, 25-19, and were ready to clinch the title in the fourth set.
Mansfield had other plans as they rallied to win that set, 26-24, to force a fifth and final contest.
Unfortunately, it was all Bradleyville from there as the Lady Eagles won, 15-4.
Bradleyville would go on only to fall to Chadwick in the district championship game, 3-0.
In the first round of the Class 1, District 8 tournament, the Lady Lions defeated Niangua in three straight sets.
Mansfield easily dispatched of the Lady Cardinals, 25-7, 25-6 and 25-6.
The Lady Lions finshed their season with just one less victory from a year ago as they compiled an 11-21-2 overall record.
