Mansfield Lady Lions now 2-1 in the Summit
The Mansfield Lady Lions are now 2-1 in the Summit Conference after crushing Conway in a 15-2 victory last week.
Mansfield scored six runs in the first and added four more in the top of the sixth to pull away for good in the 13-run victory.
Addie Jones picked up the win on the mound after tossing six innings and giving up no earned runs on three hits with nine strikeouts and three walks.
Offensively, Cayley Young had three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored; Madisyn Bennett had three RBIs and one run scored; Jadalyn Coble had two RBIs and scored one run; Jones had one RBI and scored three times; Kayley Kingery, Mylee Sullivan and Patience Parsons had one RBI and scored twice; Emma Matney had one RBI and one run scored; Haleigh Jones had two RBIs; and Rylee Dixon had one RBI.
The Lady Lions led 3-2 through five innings before Willow Springs had a 16-run top of the sixth inning to pull away for an 18-3 win.
Coble, Bennett and Sullivan each had one RBI while Parsons scored twice.
Jones tossed five and two-thirds innings and gave up three earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and 12 walks. Sullivan tossed a third of an inning and gave up no runs or hits. Kingery gave up one earned run and one walk.
Mansfield’s record is 7-7 overall this spring.
