Mansfield Lions end skid, win two straight
A long seven game losing streak came to an end last week for the Mansfield Lions’ baseball team after they outscored two opponents, 13-4, for a pair of needed victories.
Against Summit Conference foe Seymour, Fisher Croney hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning and Parker Moody hit a solo home run in the Lions’ final at-bat.
Moody finished with two RBIs and one run scored while Croney had three hits, one RBI and scored three times.
John Roberts and Brayden Stuart had one RBI while Cole Whorton and Easton Thompson each scored one run.
Stuart tossed seven innings on the mound and gave up no earned runs on three hits with even strikeouts and two walks for the Lions.
One day later, the Lions traveled to Springfield and defeated New Covenant Academy by a 7-3 margin.
Croney had two RBIs; Thompson and Roberts each had one RBI and one run scored; Jaxon Clark and Moody both had one RBI; while Whorton scored three runs.
Clark tossed four innings of scoreless baseball and gave up four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Aiden Garrison tossed two innings and gave up three earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
Whorton tossed a scoreless inning and had one strikeout for Mansfield in the win over NCA.
