Mansfield track and field wins Ash Grove Invitational

The Mansfield Lions’ track and field team reach for their first place plaque from the Ash Grove Invitational.
The Mansfield Lions’ track and field team scored 141.5 team points to win first place in last week’s Ash Grove Invitational, beating the host Pirates by 29.5 points.
Mansfield’s 4x800-meter relay team of Oliver Henry, Curtis Wallin, Brent Stuart and Michael Ivey finished first with a time of 9:47.95.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Kaden Young, Owen Rhodes, Kellen Campbell and Emery Downs was second with their time of 1:40.85.
As for the 4x100 squad of James Liebman, Hayden Merriett, Henry and Downs, they were sixth (52.44).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Owen Scofield, Liebman, Merriett and Downs placed fourth (4:25.80).
Stuart had a big day winning the 1,600 (5:07.03) and the 3,200 (11:45.26). Wallin was sixth in the 3,200 (12:46.40).
In the sprints, Ussery was fourth (11.81) and Young was seventh (12.38) in the 100. As for the 200, Rhodes was fourth (24.94) and Fisher Croney was sixth (26.35).
Campbell added a second place finish in the 400 (56.41).
In hurdles, Ussery won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.02 seconds while Scofield was third (50.15).
Michael Ivey placed third in the 800 (2:24.58).
In field events, Croney won the high jump after clearing 1.88 meters while Rhodes was third (1.73 meters). Ussery was second (6.22 meters) and Young was fourth (5.63 meters) in the long jump.
Campbell won the triple jump with a leap of 12.89 meters and Ussery was sixth (11.61 meters).
The Lady Lions were 13th in the team standings as they did score some team points in the meet.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Devynn Ball, McKenzie Barnes, Dalanie Petty and Ashlyn Simpson finished seventh (1:00.80). Ball added a second place time of 56.28 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. Barnes was eighth in the 400 (1:18.53), Petty took eighth in the 200 (33.17), while Ball was also eighth in the 100 meters (14.56).
