Mansfield track earns a few All-State medals

The Mansfield boys and girls track and field program had earned team points in five different events this past weekend in the Class 2 state championships held in Jefferson City.

The Lions were led by Nolyn Corder, who scored seven total team points. He was fifth place overall to earn All-State honors in the 3,200 meters with his time of 10:05.57. He also placed sixth for All-State honors in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:32.91.

Malachi Ussery also had a big day for Mansfield. He earned All-State honors with a sixth place time of 41.19 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. He had the fifth fastest time in preliminaries (41.38).

Then in the long jump, Ussery’s leap of 21’5.5” helped him place seventh in the state.

In the preliminaries, Ussery’s 23.40 seconds was good enough for 16th place overall in the 200 meters race.

As a team, the Lions earned 12 team points for 17th place in Class 2, tying them with New Bloomfield.

The Lady Lions scored three team points for a 49th place finish at state.

Faith Clark earned those three points when she finished sixth in the 800 meters with her All-State time of 2:25.19. Clark was also 12th place overall in the 1,600 meters (5:50.45).

In the 100-meter hurdles, Cali Lemons just missed the finals by .30 seconds as she was ninth place with a personal best time of 16.91 seconds. She shaved a half second off her personal record. 

Lemons was 13th place in the 300-meter hurdles with her time of 50.32 seconds.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Addie Jones, Laikyn Ball, Clark and Lemons had the 14th fastest time of 1:52.73.

The same group of runners were also 16th in the 4x400-meter relay race with their time of 4:31.62.

As for the triple jump event, Jones was 16th in the state with her leap of 31’01”.
