Mansfield track excels at Chadwick, Spokane
Mansfield’s track and field program enjoyed some success at a pair of meets held last week.
Chadwick
The Lions won four different events in the Chadwick Invitational.
Malachi Ussery won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.71 seconds and he won the long jump event with a toss of 6.58 meters. He was also third in the 100 (11.78).
Owen Rhodes won the high jump after clearing 1.82 meters and Kellen Campbell took first in the triple jump with a leap of 12.53 meters. Campbell also took sixth in the 200 (24.87) while Rhodes was eighth in the 400 (58.06).
Michael Ivey was second in the 3,200 meters (11:41.26) and seventh in the 1,600 (5:21.05).
Brent Stuart was third in the 1,600 (4:56.77).
Kaden Young placed third in the long jump after leaping 5.92 meters.
As for relay races, both the 4x100 (48.59) and 4x200 (1:36.84) were third place.
The Lady Lions were led by the relay races as the 4x100 (58.97) and the 4x200 (2:04.50) were both in fourth place.
Devynn Ball was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (54.86).
Spokane
In the Spokane Classic, the Lions had several top eight finishes. Ussery on the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.92 seconds while winning the long jump with a leap of 6.59 meters. Young was second in the long jump (5.68 meters).
Campbell won the triple jump with his leap of 12.62 meters and placed sixth in the 200 (24.59).
Rhodes won the high jump event after clearing 1.82 meters.
The 4x200 (1:37.95) was third and the 4x800 (9:55.48) was fourth as the relay teams had success.
In distance races, Stuart was second (11:14.88) and Ivey was third (11:14.54) in the 3,200.
Alex Paulson placed with an eighth place toss of 10.6 meters in the shot put.
As for the Lady Lions, Ball was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (55.68) and seventh in the 200 (29.67).
