Lady Panthers’ season ends in districts

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ softball season came to an end on their home field last week in the Class 2, District 4 Tournament.
Unfortunately, that loss came in the district semifinals to rival Ava, 12-4.
Ava scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull away during a 13-hit attack in the game.
Lyla Golden hit a three-run home run in the first inning and finished with three RBIs and one run scored. Payton O’Connor, Aubrie Gerla and Chloe Slagle each scored one run.
On the mound, Hannah Dowden tossed four and a third innings and gave up five earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
O’Connor tossed one and two-thirds scoreless innings and gave up three hits with two walks.
Ava went on to fall to Thayer in the district championship game, 4-2.
The Lady Panthers ended their season with a 15-11 overall record.
