Lady Panthers face busy stretch of games

Mountain Grove’s Lyla Golden goes up for a kill against Strafford.

It’s been a busy stretch for the Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ volleyball team as they have played nine matches in an eight day stretch.
While they have not picked up much for victories, the stretch is likely to help them as the season moves along.
In the recent West Plains Showdown, the Lady Panthers did pick up a 2-0 win over head coach Bobbi Bayer’s former team from Summersville.
Mountain Grove won that match with a pair of 25-16 sets.
They followed by splitting two sets with Rolla as they fell, 25-20, before rallying for a convincing 25-13 win in the second set.
Their tournament unfortunately ended with a 25-23 and 25-15 loss to Blair Oaks along with a 25-10 and 25-16 loss to West Plains.
They opened play in the South Central Association (SCA) Conference when they traveled to Liberty (Mountain View). Mountain Grove would fall in three sets, 25-16, 25-13 and 25-21.
Then at home against a now 9-1 Strafford team, the Lady Panthers were swept 25-11, 25-16 and 25-13.
(Information from the Quad event this past weekend in West Plains will be published in the Oct. 1 issue.)
