Lady Panthers get win over Hartville

Mountain Grove’s girls basketball team traveled to Hartville last week and picked up their third win of the season after holding off the Lady Eagles for a 54-41 victory.
Stella Benson hit a pair of 3-poitners in the 18-point first quarter to help the Lady Panthers take a seven-point lead. Hartville’s Kinley Cryer hit a pair of 3-pointers herself to score six of the Lady Eagles’ points.
Maddie Brown scored eight points in the second quarter for Hartville, but they trailed 34-23 at halftime.
The Lady Panthers would go on an 11-6 run in the final frame to pull away for the 13-point win.
Sadie Schober had a team-high 13 points for Mountain Grove. Rowen Kelly made four, 3-pointers and finished with 12 points; Benson scored 11; Hadley Driskill had eight points; Kaylee Virtue scored six; and Cassidy Behrendsen had two points.
Cryer led Hartville with 23 points; Brown had 10; while Sarah Palmer had nine points.
After the win, the Lady Panthers traveled to Aurora on Thursday and fell, 57-52.
Mountain Grove led by 11 at halftime and held the lead into the fourth quarter before falling by five points.
Aurora outscored the Lady Panthers, 20-12, in the final frame.
Benson made four, 3-pointers and finished with 16 points; Schober had 12; Virtue had seven points; Kelly had five points; Briley Curtiss  and Driskill scored four; and Behrendsen had two points.
