The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ golf team will be looking to their returning players to help make the fall 2024 season a special one for the squad.
This year’s group features Zoey Criner, Morgan Tyrrell, Emma Crewse, Chloe Slagle and Cara Nelson.
“It seems like yesterday we started this program,” said Mountain Grove head coach Mike Mallow.
“We now have nine girls in the program and interest continues to build. I’m excited about the future of girl’s golf at Mountain Grove.”
Mountain Grove did lose Lauren Mallow to graduation. Mallow is playing golf at Missouri Western University, an NCAA Division II school located in St. Joseph. She recently shot an 84/88 in her first collegiate tournament.
Mallow noted that he is looking for his players to improve throughout the fall 2024 season.
“I expect them to remain true to the process,” Coach Mallow said. “Be great teammates and work towards continuous improvement.”
In the Strafford Tournament held on Sep. 5 at Whispering Oaks Golf Course in Marshfield, Morgan Tyrrell led the team with an even 100. Criner shot a 101, Crewse had a 109, Slagle shot a 113 and Nelson added a 115.
Their team score of 423 gave them fifth place out of the 15 schools represented.
“The girls did a good job for the first tournament of the year,” Coach Mallow said. “We have work to do but it was a good start to the season. I’m proud of them.”
