Lady Panthers win two by 32-0 margin

It was an outstanding week for the Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ softball team as they opened the South Central Association (SCA) Conference with a thrashing of Liberty (Mountain View) and shutout two teams while the offense scored 32 runs.
Against the Lady Eagles, the Lady Panthers scored nine runs in the first and eight in the second as they took advantage of six errors for a 17-0 win.
Chloe Slagle had two RBIs and scored three runs; Briley Curtiss had two RBIs and one run scored; Hannah Dowden, Lyle Golden and Payton O’Connor had one RBI and scored twice; Gabby Miller scored three times;  Aubrey Miller scored twice; while Leah Broome and Aubrey Owens each had scored one run.
On the mound, Dowden tossed three scoreless innings and gave up two hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
The Lady Panthers other win came in Alton as a 13-hit attack lifted them to a 15-0 win over the Lady Comets.
Golden hit a two-run home run in the first inning as her team never looked back in the win.
Broome had a big day with five RBIs; O’Connor had three hits, four RBIs and one run scored; Golden had two RBIs and one run scored; Curtiss had one RBI and scored three times; Owens had one RBI and scored two times; Miller scored three times; and both Slagle and Gerla scored twice.
Dowden tossed five scoreless inning and gave up three hits with five strikeouts.
The Lady Panthers’ record is now over the .500 mark at 5-4.
