Mountain Grove boys fall to Greenwood

The Mountain Grove Panthers hosted a tough Greenwood squad last week, but they were unable to pull out a win, falling 63-50, dropping their record to 3-4 on the season.
The Bluejays jumped out to a 20-11 first quarter lead, though the Panthers were able to trim the gap to seven at halftime.
Gardner hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 points in the first half while Sam Peterson added six points.
In the third quarter, Gardner took over the game with nine of his team’s 18 points.
Brady Anderson hit his second 3-pointer of the game as Mountain Grove trailed by just two points heading into the fourth.
Greenwood would outscore the Panthers 20-9 in the final eight minutes though as they cruised late to a 13-point victory.
Gardner led the Panthers in the loss with 23 points; Sam Peterson had eight points; Anderson scored six points; Eli Golden had five points; Aden Estep scored four points; while both Destin Unger and Cooper Hoerning scored two points.
The Panthers will end this week in nearby Mansfield to take on the Lions Dec. 20 in a Homecoming contest Friday night.
