Mountain Grove Lady Panthers cruise to big win over Hartville

A 26-point first quarter helped the Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ basketball team go in front of Wright County foe Hartville and never look back last week in a 71-48 victory to remain undefeated at 5-0.
Maddie Brown opened the game for the Lady Eagles with a 3-pointer for an early 3-2 lead.
They were up 6-5 on Kinley Cryer’s 3-pointer before the Lady Panthers had an 10-0 run.
Raylee Stenzel made two 3-pointers and scored 10 first quarter points. Rowen Kelly first made one 3-pointer before nailing one at the buzzer to help the Lady Panthers go up 26-12.
Sadie Schober added seven points in the same frame while her team made six 3-pointers in the first quarter.
Just before halftime, Cryer nearly converted a four-point play, but missed a free throw.
She did have 10 points and Brown added two 3-pointers for six points in an 18-point quarter.
Stenzel paced Mountain Grove with five points as the Lady Panthers took a 42-30 lead into halftime at the Arena.
Landry Golden took over the game in the third quarter by scoring eight of her team’s 11 points in the third quarter.
Cryer did have seven points for Hartville, but the Lady Panthers led by 10 heading into the fourth quarter.
Mountain Grove had a 9-1 run to go up 18 before sealing the 23-point victory.
Kelly scored six points in the fourth quarter. She finished with four 3-pointers and 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Stenzel tallied 18 points, 11 rebounds and one assist; Golden scored 16 points, 10 rebounds and two assists; Schober had 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal; Stella Benson had five points, nine assists, four steals and one rebound; Hadley Driskell scored three points and four rebounds; and Gabby Miller scored two points, two steals and one assist.
Hartville’s offense made just 2-of-13 shots from the field in the fourth quarter of their loss.
Cryer led the Lady Eagles with 22 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals; Brown had 13 points, 13 rebounds and one assist; Sarah Palmer had seven points, five rebounds and two assists; Katia Todd had six points, five rebounds and three steals; Carlyn Cantrell had four rebounds and two steals; and Saige Petty had one rebound.
