Mountain Grove track wins events in area meets
The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ track and field program competed in the Glendale Girls Night Out event last week hosted by Parkview at John F. Kennedy Stadium in Springfield.
Their lone top eight finish in the large event came from Kylie Roth, who placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.50 seconds. She just missed earning a point in the 300-meter hurdles with her ninth place time of 49.57 seconds.
Several athletes also competed in the Marshfield Junior Varsity Invitational on Monday, April 6.
At that meet, Cassidy Behrendsen was second in the 200 (28.21), second in the long jump (4.64 meters) and third in the 100 (13.45).
Keena Roth was second in the 1,600 meters (6:13.02) and third in the 800 (2:39.20).
Marli Melton took third in the shot put (8.99 meters) while Emily Jarrett just missed placing in the discus, coming in ninth (23.86 meters).
Caleb Carron led the boys by winning the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.29 seconds while Truman King was third (47.48).
Slade Rodgers won the shot put with a toss of 13.93 meters.
Brannon Short was second (13.29 meters) and Charles Lauderdale was third (13.24 meters).
Slade Rodgers was also third (40.4 meters) and Short was fourth (36.15 meters) in the discus event.
As for the javelin, Mason Rodgers was third (38.67 meters), Braydon Curtiss was fourth (37.13 meters) and Gage Yarger was eighth (32.75 meters).
In the jumps, Brody Bevan was fourth (5.4 meters) and Yarger was eighth (5.16 meters).
Chris Fry took seventh in the triple jump (10.56 meters).
Yarger also added a sixth place finish in the 400 with a time of 56.28 seconds.
Mason Byerly added a seventh place run in the 1,600 (5:11.11).
