Panthers’ baseball season ends early in districts

The Mountain Grove Panthers’ baseball team’s season came to an end on Saturday after a first round loss in the Class 4, District 11 Tournament to Reeds Spring.
Mountain Grove’s offense managed just one hit in the loss to a Wolves’ team that scored two runs in both the first and fifth innings.
Blayze Williams had Mountain Grove’s lone base hit.
On the mound, Briar Parsons tossed four and a third innings and gave up three earned runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and four walks.
Collin Wake tossed one inning of scoreless ball and had one strikeout with two walks.
Skip Thompson tossed two-thirds of an inning and gave up one earned run on one hit with one walk.
The game was played in Rogersville.
Before districts, the Panthers knocked off South Central Association (SCA) Conference foe Salem, 12-1.
The Panthers had a nine-run second inning and never looked back in the five-inning win.
Trace Harker hit a grand slam to centerfield for the big hit in the game.
He finished with four RBIs and one run scored.
Thompson had two RBIs and two runs scored; Wake had two RBIs and one run scored; Sawyer Kidd had one RBI and scored three times; Kason Rollins added one RBI and scored twice; and Williams had one RBI and one run scored.
Eli Golden tossed five innings and gave up one earned run on one hit with eight strikeouts and six walks.
Before the win, the Panthers fell to Fair Grove, 7-1.
The game with the now 20-5 Eagles was played at Great American Ballpark in Ozark.
Trace Harker had Mountain Grove’s lone RBI while Kayne Meyer scored the lone run.
On the mound, Parsons tossed three innings and gave up one earned run on three hits with two walks.
Thompson tossed three innings and gave up two earned runs on two hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Mountain Grove ended their season with a 10-18 overall record.
