Panthers’ basketball drops tough contests

The Mountain Grove Panthers’ basketball team had a tough week of basketball going on the road to take on two teams who were undefeated with a combined 10-0 record.
They nearly knocked off the Bluejays and coach Jay Osborn before falling, 65-62 to Greenwood.
Bret Gardner made a pair of 3-poitners and Kale Gardner scored six points of his own in an 18-point opening frame.
Up 18-14, the Panthers struggled before halftime as they were outscored, 17-8.
Kale Gardner made two more 3-pointers and scored nine points in the third quarter. Both teams scored 20 in the fourth as the Panthers were unable to pull out a win.
Brody Emery scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half; Kale Gardner had 18; both Bret Gardner and Aden Estep had six points; while both Dalton Shannon and Eli Golden had five points.
Mountain Grove also lost to Wright County foe Hartville, 52-42. (Information on that contest in the Eagles’ article.)
